I am happy to share with you two projects which will take place from October 14 to 20, 2023 at the Vincent Van Gogh Foundation in Arles.
Art in the Family: Welcome to the World with gesture painting" on October 14, 2023, a parent-child workshop from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Studio, a creative space for the educational activities of the Vincent Van Gogh Foundation Arles.
Whatever our age, we have our own vision of the world. The Child knows how to travel through the vast inner world. He has the keys to seeing with the heart and exploring by letting go: he feels the spark , he lets himself be carried away by the joy of creating, of meeting people in the welcome. For adults, conventions have sometimes put this wonder on the back burner. You just have to rekindle it. The workshop that we are offering you is a meeting between the child and his parent in the heart of wonder. Anne-Sophie Fratello
Creating your Art with gesture painting" on October 16, 17, 19, 20, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., a course for adults, accessible to all, at the Studio, creation space for the educational activities of the Vincent Van Gogh Arles Foundation.
As a creator we have our own vision of the world. Connected to ourselves, to our true being and to Nature, our vision is deeper and more subtle. It allows us to see and listen to the world through the dazzlingness of the gesture . The gesture, linked to our intuition, brings out a right and authentic touch. Carry the touch where the gesture sees and arises. The unaccustomed gaze ends up following it with confidence. Our internalized vision is a language that then goes beyond the borders of visible or appearance and explores the world at the speed of a star with the vibratory song that is ours. The gesture becomes a bow which composes at each moment a timeless melody which has its own truth... Anne-Sophie Fratello
These two projects were born from the desire of the Vincent Van Gogh Arles Foundation to carry out educational actions aimed at the general public, and from the meeting with Sophie Viguier, director of the Educational Service, creating opportunities to bring the approach of an artist to children and adults in connection with a temporary exhibition. His sensitivity to Art and the creator's approach is perceptible in the way, the openness of designing and leading the project together. I thank her for this gift!
In October, these two workshops were designed in conjunction with the hosting and mediation of a wonderful exhibition: "Action, Gesture, Painting", Women in abstraction, a world history 1940-1970, in resonance with five works by Vincent van Gogh.
Exhibition from Saturday June 3 to Sunday October 22, 2023. This traveling exhibition is the result of close collaboration between the Whitechapel Gallery in England, the Kunsthalle Bielefeld in Germany and the Vincent van Gogh Arles Foundation. Exhibition curator: Bice Curiger, in collaboration with Julia Marchand and Margaux Bonopera.
Participants impressed by this exhibition will be invited to experience the creative process themselves with the artistic approach that drives me, in collaboration with the mediation team of the Vincent Van Gogh Arles Foundation.
This project is also the meeting with Vincent Van Gogh, through his letters and soon through his footsteps. Without knowing it at the time when he wrote his letters to his brother Théo, he shared with us the trials or experiences that creators may face: the question of money is predominant. But behind the lines, he questions the relationship with authority and the question of freedom: does the work need to be recognized or legitimized by experts, by popularity, to be a work? He questions the notion of duty and work: should I justify my life as an artist by a life of work, should creating always be associated with doing and effort? He is confronted with Faith: faith in himself, faith in the present, faith in the future... He questions the place of Love in creation: can I create and love? The question of surroundings and solitude: discerning the people who really support me, living as I am with those around me, taking care of those around me... He experiences the anxiety generated by ruminated fears... He shares the importance of courage, determination and being well supported... I thank him very much for this "companionship".
